Union County Saddle Club Members Receive Recognition
Each year the State of Georgia, Department of Agriculture, Commodity Commission for Equine, recognizes Georgia’s elite young equestrians at Youth Championship Day at the State Capitol. On February 3rd Union County Saddle Club members Ansley Burnette, Vanna Chambers, Sarah Howard, Lexie Jacobs, Morgan Larkin, Alyssa McFarland, Adriana Smith, and approximately 200 others from around the state, were invited and honored to attend. Although Ansley and Vanna were unable to attend, the other 5 ladies enjoyed the day. Morgan was recognized for being a Junior High School National Rodeo Qualifier. Lexie, Vanna, Alyssa, Sarah, and Adriana received recognition for qualifying for the National Barrel Horse Association Youth World Championship, and Ansley was recognized for winning overall Grand Champion during the Georgia State 4H Horse Show.
The day included a tour of the Capitol, a photo with House of Representative Stephen Allison, and the great honor to meet and have a photo taken with Governor Nathan Deal. Lunch was provided in the Freight Room catered by the Varsity Restaurant, and finally, the certificate presentation. Georgia’s thriving equine community turns out hundreds of National and World Champions in various breed and discipline shows all over the US and these individuals are no exception. Their hard work and dedication has not gone unnoticed and they represent the Union County Saddle Club with honors.
Thank you to Representative Allison and Governor Deal. Congratulations to all.
